Google Connected Apps for D2C isn’t open to Indian shoppers yet: as of 3 November 2026, Google lists no commerce app for India in Search or the Gemini app. This guide explains why reorders, subscriptions and order tracking should be the first tools an Indian D2C brand builds, what it needs before a marketplace or quick commerce app becomes the default, and what to measure.

A customer in the US can already ask the Gemini app to shop for groceries through Instacart, and a Shopify merchant can ask it to process orders and track inventory. In India, no shopping or D2C app appears in Google’s connected apps lists yet. What a brand builds while that gap lasts matters more than the gap.
Google Connected Apps for D2C comes down to 1 question: which repeat purchase tasks (reorders, subscriptions, order tracking) should a brand let Google’s AI surfaces complete for a customer who has already bought once? Our full guide to Google Connected Apps in India covers the platform. This post goes deeper on D2C brands.
Google opened a preview of its Connected Apps Platform on 28 October 2026. Developers build a remote MCP server or an Android AppFunctions integration, register it in Google Connected Console, and customers link their account once. At upGrowth Digital we’ve worked on D2C growth before, including subscription meal brand Delicut, whose monthly sales grew from 40K AED to over 2 million AED in Dubai. Today we help brands get named inside AI answers. Connected apps add the next layer: being the tool the AI uses when a customer buys again.
Below: where commerce apps run today, why repeat purchase beats discovery as the first job, the tasks worth building, what a brand needs before a marketplace or quick commerce app takes the default slot, a readiness checklist and the numbers to watch. Every Google fact here comes from pages we read on 3 November 2026.
No. As of 3 November 2026, Google lists no shopping, commerce or D2C connected app for Indian users on either surface, and nothing has changed since our pillar post on 29 October 2026. AI Mode in Search runs connected apps only in the US, in English.

Google’s Search Help page on connected apps says the feature is available in AI Mode in the US, in English. It lists 5 apps: Instacart, Canva, YouTube Music, Yahoo Fantasy Football and Sleeper Fantasy Football. Instacart is the only shopping app. There’s no India date.
The Gemini connected apps availability table lists 6 India-only apps, all in English: Urban Company and 5 Zoho products. Urban Company, which tracks bookings, is the closest consumer pattern. Canva and Wix list Hindi among their supported languages.
Google’s launch post promises more developers, markets and products over the coming months and says plainly: “We’re opening access in phases.” Our inference, not a Google statement: Indian D2C brands will reach Gemini before Search, the same order Zoho and Urban Company followed.

They show that Google already lets commerce apps handle orders, carts and checkout links inside Gemini, but only in the US or in English, and mostly by handing payment back to the brand. None of them is a D2C brand selling its own product, which is the gap Indian brands could fill.

In the Gemini table, Shopify lets a merchant manage their storefront, process orders, track inventory, create product listings and update store settings. It’s US only, English only, for users aged 18 and over. Our reading: it’s an operations tool for the brand team, not a way to reach shoppers.
Instacart shops for groceries and household items in Gemini (US only, ages 13 and over) and builds carts from recipes in AI Mode. It’s the clearest example of a repeat purchase task on Google’s surfaces today, and it hands checkout back to Instacart.
VistaPrint lets users design custom merchandise, compare pricing and add orders to a cart through a checkout link. It runs wherever Gemini Apps and VistaPrint are supported, in English. Our reading: the checkout link pattern is the safest model for a first D2C reorder tool, because the payment step stays on the brand’s own site.
Because a connected app needs a linked account, and the customers who will link a D2C brand are the ones who have already bought from it. Reorders, subscription changes and order tracking are the tasks those customers already do on your site, so they’re where Google Connected Apps for D2C pays back first.
Users link an account once and don’t repeat it, according to Google’s developer overview. Our reading: a first-time shopper has no account to link, while a repeat customer can name your brand and act straight away.
Google’s Search Help page says AI Mode may default to the app a user last used for a task, and the user can switch by naming another app. Our inference: for a consumable such as coffee, protein, eggs or skincare, the first app a customer links for “reorder my usual” can keep that task for months. If that app is a marketplace or quick commerce app, the brand becomes a SKU inside someone else’s default.
Our Growth Moves 2026 D2C edition tracked 14 moves across 14 brands, and 1 of its 4 patterns is growth through someone else’s front door. Comet launched on Myntra in January 2026 after staying off marketplaces since launch. Eggoz said its traceable egg line would expand to more cities through quick commerce platforms. We name these brands because Growth Moves covers them. Neither has announced a Google connected app, and we aren’t suggesting either is building one.

Our view: start with order tracking, then reorders that end in a checkout link, then subscription changes that require confirmation. Leave product recommendations for later, because they depend on being named in AI answers before anyone links.

“Where is my order” is a read-only task that needs an order and nothing else. Google’s MCP server guide asks developers to mark read-only tools with a read-only hint. Urban Company already tracks bookings for Indian users in Gemini, so the pattern exists here. Our reading: this is the cleanest first tool for any D2C brand with its own checkout.
A reorder tool rebuilds the customer’s last cart and returns a checkout link, as VistaPrint does. The customer pays on your site. We’d require user confirmation for anything that creates a cart.
Google’s Connected Apps Platform policy says sensitive actions, including financial transactions, must carry a destructive hint or require human confirmation. Our view: mark skip, pause, quantity and date changes as destructive so Google asks the customer first.
NEWME reached 40 stores and SleepyCat its 50th store in September 2026, per Growth Moves. We name them because Growth Moves covers them; neither has announced a Google connected app. Store locators and catalogue search need no customer account, so they can run on the no-auth option. Our view: it’s the lowest-risk pilot.
| Sector task | Live analogue | What Indian companies could expose | upGrowth view |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order tracking | Urban Company in Gemini (India): track bookings | Order status, delivery date, return or exchange status | Best first tool. Read-only, user-delegated OAuth. |
| Reorder | Instacart in Gemini and AI Mode (US); VistaPrint checkout link | Rebuild last cart, hand back a checkout link | Strongest repeat purchase lever. Require confirmation. |
| Subscription changes | No live D2C analogue in Google’s lists on 3 Nov 2026 | Skip, pause, change date or quantity | High value, state-changing. Mark as destructive. |
| Store operations | Shopify in Gemini (US, merchant side) | Not a shopper tool; watch for India availability | Useful for brand teams, not for customers. |
| Store and catalogue lookup | No live D2C analogue | Store locator, size guide, catalogue search | No auth needed. Lowest-risk pilot. |
A brand needs its own checkout, its own customer accounts and order data it controls, plus a reason for customers to link the brand rather than the app they already use for everything else. Without those, a quick commerce or marketplace app is the natural default for reorders.
User-delegated OAuth only works if customers log in with you. Our reading: a brand that sells mostly through marketplaces has little to link, because the marketplace owns the account and order history.
Google’s policy bans wrappers around third-party APIs you don’t own, while allowing third-party APIs for supporting functions inside a larger proprietary service. Our inference, not a Google statement: a brand running its store on a commerce platform should confirm with its legal team, and with Google during review, that its MCP server counts as its own service.
A customer types “@YourBrand” only if your brand comes to mind first. That’s why Generative Engine Optimization still matters: AI answers that name you before anyone links are what earn the link. Our e-commerce and quick commerce post covers the platform side.

Track linked accounts, completed reorders and subscription saves alongside sessions, and set the baseline before you launch. Google reports traffic, latency and error rates; the commercial numbers are yours to add.
Google’s launch post says developers can track traffic, latency and error rates once an app is live. The policy treats consistent errors as violations, so error rate is also a compliance number.
In our view, fewer site sessions from repeat customers is a channel shift to track, not lost demand.
Not yet. As of 3 November 2026, Google’s Gemini availability table lists 6 connected apps for India, Urban Company and 5 Zoho products, and none is a shopping or D2C app. Connected apps in AI Mode in Search run only in the US, in English, and Google has given no India date.
In the Gemini app, Shopify (merchant side, US only), Instacart (US only) and VistaPrint (English only) handle store operations, grocery shopping and custom merchandise orders. In AI Mode in Search, Instacart is the only shopping app among the 5 listed and builds grocery carts, with checkout and tracking in Instacart.
Our view is to start with order and return tracking, which is read-only, then a reorder tool that rebuilds the last cart and returns a checkout link, then subscription skip, pause and change tools that require user confirmation. Product recommendations should wait until AI answers already name your brand.
A connected app needs a linked account, so the first users are existing customers. Google’s Search Help page also says AI Mode may default to the app a user last used for a task. Our inference is that the first app a customer links for a reorder can keep that task, so brands that miss the window risk becoming a SKU inside a marketplace or quick commerce default.
Google’s pages we read don’t describe in-Gemini payment for D2C brands. VistaPrint adds orders to a cart through a checkout link, and Instacart handles checkout in its own app. Google’s policy says financial transactions must be marked as destructive or require human confirmation. Our view is that a checkout link back to your own site is the safest first design.
Google hasn’t opened commerce connected apps to Indian users, and that’s the useful part. You have time to pick your 3 tasks, clean up customer logins, scope the data each tool needs and get your brand named in AI answers before anyone has to choose an app to link.
upGrowth helps D2C brands do both halves: Generative Engine Optimization so AI answers name you, and the task and data scoping that makes a connected app pass review. Our work with Delicut took monthly sales from 40K AED to over 2 million AED.
