You’ll see two key outputs:
| Metric | Description | |
| MoM Growth % | Shows short-term growth rate between consecutive periods. | |
| YoY Index | Reveals how this period compares to typical seasonal performance. |
Average seasonality strength varies by industry — use this as reference:
| Industry | Typical Seasonal Index Range | Common Seasonal Peaks |
| E-commerce | 1.25 – 1.50 | Festive sales, holiday months |
| Travel & Hospitality | 1.30 – 1.70 | Summer and winter holiday seasons |
| EdTech | 0.85 – 1.15 | School admission and exam periods |
| Healthcare | 1.00 – 1.20 | Year-end health check campaigns |
| B2B / SaaS | 0.95 – 1.10 | Generally stable year-round |
Example:
Step 1: Raw MoM Growth %
((₹13,00,000 – ₹11,50,000) ÷ ₹11,50,000) × 100 = 13.0%
Step 2: Seasonal Index (YoY Ratio)
₹13,00,000 ÷ ₹10,00,000 = 1.30 (i.e., 30% typical seasonal uplift)
Step 3: Comparison / Interpretation
MoM Growth (13%) is slightly below the 30% seasonal index — meaning performance this month aligns with normal seasonal trends, but not beyond expectations.
Final Output Message:
“Your MoM growth is in line with typical seasonal uplift — current performance reflects expected trends.”

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Seasonality Adjusted Growth Calculator
A seasonality adjusted growth calculator shows whether a change in revenue, traffic, leads or conversions reflects real growth or a recurring seasonal pattern. upGrowth’s calculator does this by showing month-on-month growth next to a year-over-year index for the same period.
Enter three values for the same metric: the current period value, the same period last year, and the previous period. Then click Calculate. The tool shows your MoM growth percentage, your YoY index and a short interpretation. Use the same unit and period length for all three inputs.
The calculator uses two formulas. MoM growth % = ((current period − previous period) ÷ previous period) × 100. YoY index = current period ÷ same period last year. A YoY index of 1.00 means no change, above 1.00 means growth, and below 1.00 means decline versus last year.
The YoY index compares your current period with the same period one year earlier. Both periods fall in the same season, so recurring effects such as festive demand or exam cycles largely cancel out. For example, an index of 1.30 means the metric is 30% higher than it was a year ago.
MoM growth compares back-to-back periods that may fall in different seasons. A jump from September to October may reflect festive demand rather than better marketing. A dip after a peak month may look like a decline when it is normal. Pairing MoM growth with the YoY index adds that missing seasonal context.
There are four common patterns.
There is no universal benchmark because a good YoY index depends on your industry, business stage and targets. Any value above 1.00 means you are ahead of the same period last year. The most useful comparison is against your own past YoY indices and the growth targets in your plan.
You can use any metric you record consistently over time. Common examples include revenue, orders, website sessions, leads, signups, app installs and conversions. Make sure all three inputs use the same definition and the same tracking setup.
